Trigger Warning: Domestic Violence
I suggest for those who haven’t been victims of domestic violence to watch it again, and again, and again to get the idea of what many of us have been saying the whole time. There is never an excuse for a man to hit a woman, but especially for a professional football player of disproportionate size and strength to hit his soon to be wife.
I am from Baltimore and have had many conversations with fellow Ravens fans whom are passionate and loyal to their team. I concluded from the standing ovation that he received in training camp and the tenor of the conversations I had with those fans, that Ravens fans were going to look at this with purple colored glasses. I hope this will wake them up.
We talked about the specific incident, his weak ass response, and the response overall including the victim blaming that ensued as a result of one’s beloved football hero knocking his fiancé the fuck out. I should not joke about this, but she leads with her chin and he taps it twice. I guess she hasn’t taken the same self-defense training he has nor is she taking the same nutritional supplements that apparently he is.
The most poignant part of the video is what happens after the video. Does he looked panicked or nervous to you? Does he look like a man that is thinking “Oh my God, I just struck my fiance and the mother of my child?” He doesn’t look that way to me. He looks like a guy who once again had to “teach his wife a lesson” this time resulting in knocking her out. Is anyone still buying the “this is a one time incident that has never happened before”? Ray Rice is trash personified, his wife needs to get out before it’s too late, and his defenders need to look at themselves in the mirror.
