What You Should Know About the Latest with Meek Mill
Beef: It’s what’s on Twitter.
Tuesday night & early Wednesday morning, Meek Mill’s Twitter became the very definition of zero chill. He accused Drake of using ghostwriters, and Rick Ross, OG Maco, Boi-1da, Roscoe Dash, Questlove, and Chrissy Teigan jumped in with their thoughts.
The Rant
After sharing a few choice words about girlfriend Nicki Minaj’s ex, Safaree Samuels, Meek Mill moved on to Drake.
Stop comparing drake to me too…. He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out! 😁
— Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
He ain’t even write that verse on my album and if I woulda knew I woulda took it off my album….. I don’t trick my fans! Lol

Yall chill too…. Yall kinda on the list too! RT @HOT97: About what time you think Meek Mill is going to announce he’s hacked?
— Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
He confirmed that he had not been hacked with this Instagram post:
I’m not hacked either….. I don’t change me mind!

And then, the whopper:
Other artist know tho? lil Wayne and Nicki know ….. Ask em they gone act like they don’t see them tweets
— Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
Embroiled in her own beef, Nicki Minaj said nothing about her boyfriend’s rant.
I’m baffled as to WHY @taylorswift13 felt the need to come at @NickiMinaj for speaking on behalf of unsung black female entertainers..

The Reaction
Rick Ross tweeted, then promptly deleted, this:
@WordNerdSteph @ReaganGomez pic.twitter.com/7FPOgaVyyV
— grace period (@blowticious) July 22, 2015
Meek Mill was strangely unbothered.
Ross is really with me…. I don’t look at no tweet …… It’s really love we don’t act like we cool for the camera!
— Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2015
The response seemed off…until a clever Twitter user pointed this out:
So what we’re saying is that Rick Ross didn’t know that the alligator always eats the bigger number?
— Erika Lehnsherr (@Mercii_Me) July 22, 2015
Did Rick Ross mean to say that Meek Mill is better than Drake? That would be interesting, considering their history.
Rapper OG Maco chimed in, defending Meek Mill & posting Drake’s liner notes with a co-writer highlighted on several songs.
He definitely wrote some of it. That’s facts. But naw. Meek not hatin. He’s being honest. https://t.co/Vsn4RBpkFA
— OG Maco (@OGMaco) July 22, 2015
Producer and frequent Drake-collaborator Boi-1da responded with a now-deleted tweet…
While Roscoe Dash enjoyed a bit of schadenfreude.
And I fuck with @meekmill I reached out for this #DashEffect2 project I thought it would be a dope collab for the ppl
— Scoe!!! (@Roscoedash) July 22, 2015
And he told me FOH … #Support works both ways …now the universe balances out and now he’s 😢😢😣 abt @drake not tweeting his album
— Scoe!!! (@Roscoedash) July 22, 2015
Questlove, per usual, was a voice of reason in the midst of madness:
Damn. This week is hip hop civil war week huh.
— Questlove Gomez (@questlove) July 22, 2015
And Model Chrissy Teigen cracked jokes and said what we were all thinking:
@johnlegend for the love of god u better tweet meek’s album if you’re ever on it
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) July 22, 2015
i am not leaving this computer until drake wakes up
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) July 22, 2015
What now?
Now, we wait. Meek Mill has challenged Drake’s artistic authenticity and the streets are watching. Will Drake respond with a pointed subtweet? Will he hunker down in the lab and come back with the year’s best diss track? Or, might he even show up in Philly to handle this in person?
Don’t underestimate Aubrey. He might look light.
But he heavy though.
You think Drake would pull some ish like that?
