The Breeze: Why SRFSCHL Is Defining Wavy
This week, The Editors sit down with Adrian Lau and Rico of Surf School Records. Adrian is an old friend of the show and was actually our very first musical guest. Rico is in the Surf School brain trust. Surf School signed to Priority Records which operates under Capitol Music Group in 2013.
Adrian Lau
Adrian Lau is a Brooklyn-based rapper\producer focused on translating his life growing up in New YorkCity into his music. Working closely with producer Harry Fraud, Adrian has compiled an extensive tracklist in anticipation of his still-untitled debut mixtape. In a game where far too many artists simply churn out mediocre music to get a little buzz and a few dollars, Adrian, Harry and the whole team are instead decidedly focused on quality, both in his lyrical content, the quality of music overall, and delivering jaw dropping visuals that truly match his sound. His music has a disinct new school feel, however the style is firmly entrenched in his musical roots, which lay in hip hop and rap music.
Make sure you follow him on twitter at @AdrianLauNY, and definitely stay tuned to this up and comer! #SurfSchool
Harry Fraud
Harry Fraud is an Irish American music producer born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He first rose to fame as the beatsmith behind “New York Minute,” a 2009 anthem featuring Bad Boy’s French Montana and Jadakiss. Ever since, it hasn’t been hard to separate Harry Fraud from the rest of the button punchers. His tireless work ethic, commitment to quality sound, ear for talent and instrumentation have facilitated the young producer’s meteoric rise to sought-after hitmaker.
In 2011, Fraud’s radio smash “Shot Caller” with French Montana caught the attention of numerous industry heavyweights, including P. Diddy and Rick Ross. The two moguls jumped on the remix, and both the original and the remix went in heavy rotation across the nation. After dropping “Shot Caller,” Fraud followed up with several underground and mainstream hits including “Stoner’s Night 2,” “Bird on a Wire,” and “I’m a Coke Boy.”
In only a few years, Harry Fraud has put together a powerful catalogue, featuring collaborations with many of this generation’s most influential Hip Hop artists. Fraud has enlisted a veritable who’s-who of the rap game, including French Montana, Jadakiss, Nicki Minaj, P. Diddy, Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, Sean Price, Styles P, Fat Joe, Action Bronson, Joey BADA$$, Pusha T, Mistah FAB, and Mac Miller.
Fraud continues to work with hip hop’s elite as well as compose music for television and movies. With his SRFSCHL media brand growing exponentially his expansion into all facets of the entertainment industry is inevitable.
