Luckily, It Looks Like It’ll Only Affect People Of Color
It won’t be that hard as we are naturally suspecting of people of color.
One woman and three men of “Middle Eastern” descent were removed from a Spirit Airlines plane at BWI Airport. The flight was headed for Chicago from Baltimore. After removal of these four people, Spirit Airlines deplaned the rest of the passengers and they are all now at the terminal awaiting a new plane. There was a compaint of suspicious activity by a woman with a young child who was moving quickly toward the back of the plane prior to take off. The woman and child were not removed from the plane.
People of Color
Religious and racial profiling? Yes please! There will be more stories like this. “See something, say something” becomes “Hey you’re making me uncomfortable, get off the plane”. The hate on those of us who may look like terrorists (no matter actual race, religion, ethnicity, nor nationality) will remind us that it has gone nowhere.
Immediately, people of color will be suspect. I wonder if this would have been the reaction if the woman had been white. Would they have turned the plane around and taken all the white people off? Afterall, it’s not about race, it’s about an ideology of hate. I get that we need to be on alert because of the threats. I’m glad flight attendants are willing to hold people accountable, but reading and listening to ignorant comments from people shows how little those people know about ISIS.
Essentially, they want to divide everyone into Muslims and Non-Muslims. If we keep letting hate divide us, we are basically feeding the ISIS narrative. Let’s unite and show the true meaning of being American. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland in spite of all of the vowels in Kwaisi Tamaal France. I subscribe to no organized religion, and I really could care less about anyone else’s. If you live in fear, the terrorists have already won.
