Lebron James: Already Home
Oh, they want me to fall
Fall from the top
They want me to drop
They want me to stop
They want me to go
I’m already gone
The shit that I’m on
I’m already home
This is the chorus from Jay Z and Kid Cudi’s Already Home off of the Blueprint 3 and it explains the story of LeBron James from when he left the Cleveland Cavaliers until his return today.
Oh They Want Me To Fall
My favorite excerpts from Dan Gilbert’s letter to Lebron after he left:
“As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening,”
“This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.”
“You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.”
“I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE. You can take it to the bank.” (his caps, not mine)
“Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.”
“This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become.”
“But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.”
“The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.”
Fall From The Top
In seven years, LeBron James became the all time leader for the Cleveland Cavaliers in minutes played, field goals, field goal attempts, three point field goal attempts, free throws, free throw attempts, steals, turnovers, points, minutes per game, points per game and 40 point games. He led the Cavs to the 2007 NBA finals where they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs. A six time all star, he was the league mvp in 2008 and 2009 when the Cavs finished with the league’s best record.

They Want Me To Stop
They Want Me To Go

I’m Already Gone
It had been reported that the Cavs management met with James’ agent, Rich Paul, who funneled belief into the organization that the Cavaliers were in a strong position to lure James from the Miami Heat throughout the entire process.
The Shit That I’m On
“I went to Miami because of D-Wade and CB. We made sacrifices to keep UD. I loved becoming a big bro to Rio. I believed we could do something magical if we came together. And that’s exactly what we did!”
“When I left Cleveland, I was on a mission. I was seeking championships, and we won two.”
I’m Already Home
“Our city hasn’t had that feeling in a long, long, long time. My goal is still to win as many titles as possible, no question. But what’s most important for me is bringing one trophy back to Northeast Ohio.
I always believed that I’d return to Cleveland and finish my career there. I just didn’t know when.”
