The MusicCast
Andrew and I looked at Austin, Atlanta, and Seattle to find whatever little nuggets of awesome exist out there. For me, it turned out to be a grand reintroduction to trip hop flavored sounds could finally get me something to love that carries the torch of the 90s that culturally birthed me. For Andrew, it was a chance to jam on some good “Texas boogie rock,” deep cuts, and psychedelic pop from unlikely places.
And sometimes you just gotta get a little help from your friends. To that end, I enlisted the aid of Atlanta DJ Trey West and asked the simple question, “what is it that people shake their asses to other that Trap?” That’s when he hooked me up with some sweet riddims from DJ Roland Clark that make me want to move to Atlanta. Well… at least go to Afropunk ATL in October.
So check out this week’s music players and jam makers. Track down who you like and share it online, but don’t stop there. Get out to see a show! Buy some music!
