Channeling Joakim Noah on To Pimp A Butterfly
I didn’t want to write this piece similar to the one on Ebola when everyone was scared that it was an actual, serious threat to humanity for I should be linkbuilding, interlinking, tagging, editing, podcasting, shooting, scheduling guests, or further developing our programs for KTB Media and KTB University.
Because of these responsibilities, I have not written about a littany of issues that I would normally; however, I have reached Kay Corleone “It was an abortion Michael” status, similar to the angst over ISIS, when it comes to the hero worship of Kendrick and particularly his latest album. I have discussed ad nauseum why I’m not a Kendrick guy, though I have acquiesced to liking some of his songs, and the response I received is similar to the one Michael gave Kay.
Ultimately, I don’t like Kendrick’s voice or delivery on this album, nor do I like the beats. My other concerns are all over my Facebook page which is open to the public for viewing. Instead of rehashing those points, counterpoints and rebuttals, I am going to channel Joakim Noah who has already addressed this topic.
To Pimp A Butterfly
I don’t know about this new Kendrick Lamar album. I just listen to hip hop man. Every time I listen to it, it’s pretty depressing. It’s bad. It’s bad.
Am I Not Bumping to “To Pimp A Butterfly” Anymore?
No. No more “To Pimp A Butterfly”. It’s a digital weed plate (shout out BStew).
Do I Regret Anything I’ve Said About ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’?
Not at all…you like it? You think “To Pimp A Butterfly” is cool? I never heard anybody say “let’s rock ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ anywhere other than home, alone and sad. What’s so good about “To Pimp A Butterfly”?
Have I Ever Been Booed This Much In My Life?
Yeah
When Was I Booed More Than This?
I was booed a lot. My whole life, I’ve been booed. I was booed a lot talking about the inevitability of Wayne in college. Chicago didn’t like me (shouts to the bol Cig, Young Elijah and co.) when I said that Drake was the guy. Kendrick devotees don’t like me. It’s ok. I have my friends. I don’t care.
I could literally watch that video all day and laugh every time.
